South Lanarkshire Tenant Development Support Project
Published: Wednesday 1 October 2025
The South Lanarkshire Tenant Development Support Project (SLTDSP) has been especially busy over the past few months, working closely with the council to strengthen tenant and customer engagement.
As part of this, the Tenant Participation Coordination Group (TPCG) has played a key role in supporting the development and delivery of a range of events. In the Summer, the TPCG supported the development of the Customer Involvement Survey which was distributed to South Lanarkshire Council customers.
In August the group helped deliver a one-off tenant workshop event which provided an overview of tenant and customer participation as well as the work of the SLTDSP.
The TPCG also partnered with the Council to support the Customer Voices Conference on 16 September. The event was a great success, with the group contributing both to the development of the agenda and to the day itself. Highlights included interactive table discussions and presentations from TPCG members Jean Ramage (Rigside) and Sheena MacVicar (Cambuslang), who spoke alongside Claire Lewis (Housing Services Manager) about their involvement in the TPCG.
Following the success of the Customer Voices Conference, more tenants and customers have expressed an interest in observing and becoming more involved.
Earlier in September, members of the Budget Scrutiny Group (BSG) also took part in the Tenant Information Service (TIS) Rent Setting and Affordability Event. Sam Hewitt (Hamilton) and Jim McGeachie (Cambuslang) presented alongside Karen Gillespie (Policy and Strategy Officer), sharing insights into how the rent-setting process works in South Lanarkshire. They also spoke about the role of the BSG and discussed what they personally gain from being part of the group.
The workshop provided a great opportunity to highlight the valuable work carried out in partnership by the BSG and the Council. If you’d like to get involved or find out more, please email the Tenant Participation and Engagement Officer, Hannah Beaton, or call 07966 378273.
